My dear Barbaal,

After reviewing your last letter I am compelled to wonder what they teach anymore in that school down below. I realize that our job is not as difficult as it once once given the introduction of the television and the Internet. However, some basic classes in Logic, or my favorite, Temptation and Accusation, is not too much too ask. I may have to consider schooling you myself lest you turn out like your cousin Wormwood. Nevertheless, I will do their job and answer your question.

I admit that the abortion issue is not an easy one to understand for a young tempter, although I was never so naive as to think that Our Father Below would be loosing any ground. (By the way, be careful of those thoughts, it can be seen as open rebellion!) I will also admit that I hate even to address the topic as it repulses me completely. Of course I don't mind watching these disgusting bi-peds destroy each other in such fashion. No, rather, what disgusts me is that painful, searing light that pervades even here each time it happens. Lately the number of flashes has seemed to be without end.

It reminds me of when I was young tempter a couple of millenia ago. I remember watching with eagerness as many of these creatures were thrown to the wild beasts. That was the first time I saw that nasty, painful light. It seemed to permeate everything and then shoot towards the Enemy like a fireball. Our research has not been able to indicate whether it is the soul of the person or the Enemy Himself come to retrieve them. Regardless, the pain is a necessary evil if we are to think long term, which leads me back to your question.

I realize that on the surface it appears to be a loss for our side. To watch so many of these lights shoot toward Him lately can shake the faith of even the seasoned tempter if the end goal is not in mind. Look at it this way, for every one of those disgusting humans destroyed in the womb and lost forever to the Enemy we have the potential to gain at least two more souls, the father and mother (whether they call themselves that or not is of no importance).

I say at least because our intelligence operations is showing that this campaign is far more successful than we first hoped. Think of the other souls involved that move closer to our side each moment - the so called doctors, nurses, legislators, and those who sit and claim to not be able to do a thing (I really admire the work done by the tempters assigned to those souls!).

Unlike the brutal and entertaining destruction of the vermin by wild beasts or other means which the humans call martyrdom, (which often had the unforeseen effect of pushing the souls of those viewing the destruction toward the enemy - we're still trying to figure that one out), this destruction is hidden and has far better results for our side, even with the loss of that new soul.

However, when that light shoots toward the Enemy during an abortion, our real work soon begins and this is what I hope they are training you for at the bare minimum. Many souls can be gained for our side if we do our job well. I say "well" because if they are pushed too far they can often be pushed right into His arms.

If you are so fortunate as to receive one of these souls as an assignment, temperance must be exercised. The goal is not complete despair as some of the younger tempters are pushing toward. They forget that the Enemy is closest to those wretched beings when they are in the most pain of spirit and can even snatch them from our grasp at the last minute. No, our goal, as has been proven effective over and again, is denial to the end of their days (denial that they did this, denial that it was human, denial that it moves them closer to our side, etc). This is very nearly impossible to accomplish without temptation to other ways such as addiction and self-hate. Once the act is done, it is time for dog-pile on our part. This, by the way, is where the Temptation and Accusation classes will prove to be indispensable. If done correctly, the results can be absolutely delicious.

A new twist that is rather humorous, although I don't know how effective it is, is to convince the stupid things that what they have done is something they should be praised for. Some tempters have gained such a hold that their patient is touting him or herself as a sort of savior for sending this new soul to the Enemy. I laugh as I write this for it is really a stroke of genius by Our Father. Who else could show them the truth, and as the soul shoots toward the Enemy whisper, once again I might add, "'you are like God' sending that soul Heavenward"!

In closing, I must warn you not to become comfortable or lax. The Enemy is relentless in His quest for these souls especially. He is continually offering them His "healing". Oh, it makes me sick to think of this. That after all of our effort and hard work we can loose our grasp in an instant. The Enemy is a disgusting brute and will stop at nothing to regain these souls. I have seen men and women pulled from our clutches by a kind word from some sick-o "sidewalk counselor". I have watched whole groups of women lifted out of the beautiful darkness of our realm by the words of some disgusting priest at one of those hated retreats.

Anyway, Barbaal, as you can see, the issue guarantees nothing. It helps us tremendously in more ways than I can mention here, but it is no excuse to relax. The Enemy prowls about seeking souls to rescue. Be vigilant, temptation then accusation, use it, it works almost every time!

Mokey finally beat my top score!

Last night as I walked in from work, Mokey was standing there with the
biggest grin on his face. He finally beat my top score in action mode
of Bejeweled. I held the top spot for, I guess, over two years now.
The best part is that he did it in 11 minutes.

Yesterday we celebrated the feast of Epiphany, or also known as, Kings
Day. On this day we recall the visit of the three Magi bringing gifts
of frankincense, gold and myrrh to baby Jesus.

A favorite way to celebrate here is with something we call a King
Cake. The best way I can descibe it is to liken it to a long cinnamin
bread twisted and formed into a circle. It is topped with a sugary
colorful icing. Some are filled with flavored cream cheese or jelly.
The icing colors are green for faith, purple for justice and gold for
power. Also, there is a plastic baby to secretly hide in the cake.
Whoever gets the piece with the baby has to buy the next cake. The
tradition is to get a cake on Fridays through the Carnival season
until Mardi Gras.

Jeffrey picked out yesterday's cake. He chose one with a strawberry
cream cheese filling. It was even better than I expected it to be. We
almost ate the whole cake in one sitting! We finished it off tonight.

On New Year's Eve we went to the grocery and then went to buy fireworks. We watched Robbie Maddison jump the arch in Vegas and then shot a bunch of fireworks. Our neighbors had quite a beautiful fireworks display. We watched it from the road. Then at midnight we toasted the new year then settled in for the night. The pic is of me and Mokey while we were shooting fireworks.

After 11am Mass, Chris came by to drop Parker off for a couple days. Parker and Jeffrey played laser tag around the house and all over outside. I cooked black-eyed peas and smothered cabbage with stuffed pork chops. The boys then played video games while Moke and I napped in front the tv.

Jeffrey and his friends, Donnie and Marshall, are all dressed for Halloween. First they trick or treated a bit in Madisonville and then went to Funland for laser tag, go carts, putt putt golf and video games. Marshall won at laser tag. After drinks and pizza, they all headed home. Donnie spent the night at Jeffrey's staying up late playing Guitar Hero on the Wii while Mokey and I watched the countdown of 100 scariest movies. Jaws was #1 as the scariest. My scariest is Misery and Silence of the Lambs, although, Communion gave me nightmares for the longest time. But if you ask my family, they will say The Ghost and Mr Chicken scared me the worst; but I was a just a kid then.

I found out today through Lisa Hendey at CatholicMoms.com that the magazine has a site for blogs from their contributing writers called Faith and Family Live. More Rain

It is just that time of year now. It didn't rain in Metairie but it stormed in Folsom. The ditches were overflowing with water and I saw a tree had fallen across the road. It was cleared by the time I passed it. Maurice said we lost electricity but it was back on by the time I got home. He and Jeffrey were gone so I had the house to myself for a bit. They went to buy an alternator for the hot rod.

Nothing but rain. We had a bad rainstorm come through. Trees are down, roads are flooded and we lost power last night until about 3am. There is a river of runoff passing through our back yard. Mokey's treasured Arkansas tomatoes must be drowned by now. It is 7am but it looks like it is night time because of the dark clouds. I hear alot of rolling thunder and there is lots of lightening. I'm wondering if we should all stay home today.

Winnie's Mother's Day Rose

My mom gave Winnie a rose bush one year and we planted it on the side of the house. When I went outside this evening, I noticed this beautiful rose on it. It is the only one so far. Happy Mother's Day, Winnie!

Jeffrey and Mokey had the salmon and Jeffrey surprised me and ate almost all of it. I thought he wouldn't like it. He tasted Mokey's salmon once before but I didn't think he liked it that much. You never know what will appeal to him.

We started with Taz Crawfish which were very good. I had sirloin strips over spinach souffle with asparagus. And, of course, I had a Mother's Day Cosmopolitan. Actually, I had two.

Jeffrey's friend, Brena, had her birthday party at the skating rink
and a we had an unexpectedly good time. Or, I did. I put skates on,
too. It's probably been at least 12 years since I roller skated. But
I didn't do too bad. I didn't fall and there is something to be said
for that.
Jeffrey got off to a slow start. He didn't know how to skate. He has
Heely's but they are different than regular skates. At first he
circled the rink by pulling himself along the wall. Then he held onto
my arm, then just my hand. But by the end of the party, he was skating on his own.

Update about Maurice

He did not go home today - blood pressure was too low. He was moved out of ICU into a regular room. He sat in a chair for about six hours today and was able to shower and shave. Said he felt kind of human now. He should come home tomorrow.

He was bummed out tonight when he started thinking of the limitations the defibrillator would place on his hobbies. He cannot weld anymore. He feels he will not be able to finish building his '32 Ford coupe and restore his '70 Mustang. And we are definitely selling the Harley now.

Mokey is defibrillated!

Mokey did very well with defibrillator implantation. He can't play golf but I don't think that upset him. He ate a good dinner and is resting peacefully tonight. Praise God! The doctor says he may
release him tomorrow afternoon. By the end of the week, he can return to his potter's wheel. You can check out his pottery at houkspottery.wordpress.com

News about Maurice's health

Tonight Maurice's heart felt like it was beating so hard and fast it would just pop out of his chest. He had a severe burning sensation, too. I rushed him to Lakeview Regional ER in Covington. They gave him a drug that brought his heart rhythm and blood pressure under control. Once he was stable, they did an angiogram to see if there was a blockage. He had 70% blockage in one artery and 60% in another. They put in two stents in the artery with the 70% blockage and on Tuesday, will put in a defibrillator. He is in ICU now and was resting when I left.

I just got home from the hospital. I'll make some phone calls tomorrow. Prayers are appreciated.

Meet Our Pets

This is our newest pet, Dagger. He is a one year old Quaker parrot. We didn't know what to name him so we put our suggestions on pieces of paper and put all papers in a bowl. After praying to the Holy Spirit to give him a name, Jeffrey picked a paper out of the bowl. And that is how he came to be called, Dagger.

We've had Homey awhile now, several years at least. have time for Homey. She took him in after his previous owner could no longer take care of him. Birds take alot of time. They demand alot of attention and the cages must be cleaned each week. Homey is about 17 or 18 years old. We aren't sure. He is a cockatiel.He belonged to a lady I work with. She has several birds and didn't Homey and Dagger don't really get along. We have both their cages in the living room but cannot let both out of their cage at the same time. I think Dagger would tear Homey up. Mokey is trying to teach Dagger to talk. He says "Pretty Bird" and "Mokey" and laughs like Mokey! Several times he even imitated Homey's fussing. Dagger will bop his head up and down and say "Be Bop". This makes Mokey laugh, then Dagger imates his laugh.

Then there is Sebastian, our three year old schnauzer. He is sweet and cuddly. He is well behaved and is a good lap dog. He sleeps at the foot of the bed. But he gets scared when it rains. He shakes and shakes until the rain passes.

A Flat Tire!

The PT Cruiser drove odd on the way to Wendy's. Once we were there a while, Mokey thought to go check the tires. We had a flat! A.J. and Mokey removed the flat tire and put the spare on.

Then we headed Womack's in Ponchatoula. They didn't have the right size for my car. On the way back to Wendy's as we talked about our options, we passed Whittington's Tire and quickly pulled in. They had two tires at the right price, too! We had the new tires put on and agreed to come back on Wednesday when they would have two more in for me. One of the tires was hard to get off. The post was broke and the nut was stuck. It took three of the men to get it off.

Need I say more. They were so very good! Jeffrey was sucking heads and pinching tails like a pro. He even licked juice running down his arm!
Paw and Wendy. A.J. cooked all the crawfish. He did a good job of it. Jaida doesn't like crawfish, so she had chicken strips and fries.

Eating at Outback

We decided to eat at Outback yesterday after Mass. Mokey got the
salmon. I had steak and Jeffrey had shrimp. We all shared and had a
bit of each. It was good.

Jeffrey has a new friend"

We went to Dustin and Devin's birthday party yesterday. Shannon's
sister brought her puppy. Damon carried this puppy most of the
afternoon. Jeffrey had a turn holding the puppy, too.
Rita liked my iPhone and Jeffrey and Damon had a good time goofing off.

Jeffrey at a chess tournament

Jeffrey participated in the chess tournament this morning at his school. He won three matches. We took Jeffrey's friend, Donnie, with us. He isn't in the chess club but was allowed to play just for the fun of it. You can go to my Picasa webpage and see all the photos.

Jeffrey's 12th Birthday

Jeffrey's birthday party was a big success. The boys played Pokemon bingo, Pokemon egg toss and had a Pokemon card hunt. The Pokemon pinata burst on the fourth string pull and the guys went crazy grabbing candy. Jeffrey combined his money from his savings with the money and gift cards he received and was able to buy himself a new bike.
